Who we are
DitherCharts, LLC runs dithercharts.com, the DitherCharts CLI and DitherCharts Pro. We decide how the personal data in this policy is used (we are its “controller”). Reach us at support@dithercharts.com or through the contact form.
What we collect
Account: your email address, name and sign-in details when you create an account. Clerk stores these for us.
Billing: card and payment details go to Link and Stripe, never to us. We keep only the Stripe payment ID on your account so we know you have Pro.
CLI: when you run dithercharts login, we see your machine's hostname and operating system. The login request is deleted within 10 minutes. Each API key is named with your hostname and the date, and the key itself is saved on your machine.
Contact form: your name, email and message, sent to us as an email so we can reply.
Server logs: our host, Vercel, logs requests, including IP address, browser and the pages asked for, to run and protect the site.
Analytics: Google Analytics records the pages you visit, how you got here, and your browser, device and rough location, so we can see how the site is used. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland it sets no cookies and gets only cookieless pings that don't identify you.
We don't use advertising tools, and we don't build profiles of you.
How we use it
To run your account, provide Pro, install charts through the CLI and answer your emails. This is needed to perform our contract with you.
To see which pages people use and improve the site. This is our legitimate interest.
To keep the service secure: rate limiting, stopping abuse and fixing errors. These are our legitimate interests.
To keep billing and tax records as the law requires.
Who processes it
Clerk handles accounts and sign-in (privacy policy).
Purchases are made through Sold through Link, LLC, a Stripe company that is the merchant of record for Pro. Link and Stripe collect your payment details under their own policies (Link, Stripe).
Vercel hosts the site (privacy notice). Upstash stores CLI login requests for up to 10 minutes (privacy policy). Resend delivers contact form messages to us (privacy policy).
Google runs Google Analytics for us, with advertising features off (privacy policy). You can block it with Google's opt-out add-on.
We don't sell or share your personal information, as the California Consumer Privacy Act defines those terms, and we don't share it with advertisers.
Cookies and browser storage
Clerk sets cookies that keep you signed in. Your browser remembers your light or dark theme. Both are needed for the site to work, so there is nothing to opt in to.
Outside the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics sets _ga cookies to count returning visitors. They last up to two years. We set no advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
Account data stays while you have an account. Billing records stay as long as tax law requires. CLI login requests are deleted within 10 minutes, and you can revoke API keys at any time. Contact form messages stay in our email for as long as we need them to answer you; Resend keeps its delivery logs under its own policy. Server logs follow Vercel's retention. Google Analytics keeps visit data for up to 14 months.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email support@dithercharts.com and we'll reply within 30 days. You can delete your Link data through Link.
If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Where it's stored
We and our providers are mainly in the United States. If you're outside the US, your data is transferred there under our providers' data processing terms, including Standard Contractual Clauses where they apply.
Security
Data moves over HTTPS. The server keeps only a hash of each CLI device code, and API keys can be revoked. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your API key private.
Children
DitherCharts is for developers and isn't directed at children under 16. If you think a child has given us data, email support@dithercharts.com and we'll delete it.
Changes
We'll update the date on this page when the policy changes, and email account holders about significant changes.
